Timber Wolf KekoaPosted by B. Thomas (Arlington, Texas, United States) on 18 April 2009 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio. "Inescapably, the realization was being borne in upon my preconditioned mind that the centuries-old and universally accepted human concept of wolf character was a palpable lie. On three separate occasions in less than a week I had been completely at the mercy of these 'savage killers'; but far from attempting to tear me limb from limb, they had displayed a restraint verging on contempt, even when I invaded their home and appeared to be posing a direct threat to the young pups." ~ Farley Mowat, Never Cry Wolf

@isidro: Gracias. Thank you. willow from Chelsea, United StatesSo content, soaking up the sun. Another great image - your lighting is perfect in all of these. 18 Apr 2009 6:58am @willow: Most of the time they paced and were never still. It was so nice that he finally relaxed. Maybe he decided that letting me shoot was the only way to get rid of me. ;-) Thank you. Eric Cousineau from Sherwood Park, CanadaWell done Barbara! I have looked at your series on wolves and was not aware that there were many left in the US, particularly in the South. They are a beautiful and noble animal. Here we can hear them howling as they hunt in Elk Island National Park. ;-)) 18 Apr 2009 1:54pm @Eric Cousineau: Oh, that would be wonderful to get to hear them. They are only in Yellowstone and that area as far as I know. There have been undocumented sightings in Colorado. Sadly, most are in sanctuaries, but at least they are being cared for there. Here we have coyotes that roam the woods behind us and we do hear them from time to time. Thanks and glad you like the series. Two to go. @Veronelle: Thank you. @Allan Clark: Thank you. Photosanity from Folsom, United StatesLove the fact that the wolf is looking straight at you. 20 Apr 2009 3:56am @Photosanity: He was watching me for sure. @JanW: Thanks. @Elodie: Thank you! @Soleil Bleu: Me too! Thanks. comn from United StatesI love this picture, the texture, the pose, and the emotion. My dog gives me that look. It's the "What the heck are you doing, you silly creature?" look. 24 May 2009 12:04am @comn: Glad you like it. That is the look - you nailed it. Taina García from SpainI love wolfs , I think they are incredibly beautiful and intelligent. And noble too. The expression of this one is amazingly serene and peaceful. 3 Dec 2009 6:38pm @Taina García: Thanks so much! Wow, you went way back to find this one! ;-) |
