Green FirePosted by B. Thomas (Arlington, Texas, United States) on 20 April 2009 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio. We reached the old wolf in time to watch the fierce green fire dying in her eyes... There was something new to me in those eyes-- something known only to her and the mountains. I was young then, and full of trigger-itch. I thought that because fewer wolves more deer that no wolves would mean hunter's paradise, but after seeing the green fire die, I sensed that neither the wolf nor the mountain agreed with such a view. ~ Aldo Leopold
This is the last wolf photo. I hope you enjoyed the whole wolf series. Thanks for looking. Tomorrow - moving on to other things.

Bill from Los Altos, United StatesBarbara, A great wolf photo. It's hard for me to shoot animals with either white or black fur, and get the exposure right - you've done well here. 20 Apr 2009 5:03am @Bill: I know what you are saying. I have both a black and a white cat. I can usually work with the black one, but it seems the highlights are always blown out on the white one. Thanks for the comment. @r00t: Thanks. I worked with them to go with the text. Scott Schilling from San Martin, United StatesIncredible eyes and wonderful composition! I love the white with the black background! 20 Apr 2009 5:51am @Scott Schilling: Thank you. I didn't like the actual background because it was busy and the white wolf did not stand out. Jason Kravitz from Brussels, Belgiumgreat series Barbara and a lovely photo to end on - those eyes are intense and vivid 20 Apr 2009 8:42am @Jason Kravitz: That's interesting that you had a dream before the series started. I'll miss posting the wolves too. I think I'll start with something goofy tomorrow like some of the other "silly Tuesday" posts I have seen. Stay tuned... ;-) Photosanity from Folsom, United StatesWow! Absolutely beautiful capture. My favorite of the series. The eyes, the wonderful contrast between the background and the wolf.
