Prissy's WhiskersPosted by B. Thomas (Arlington, Texas, United States) on 25 April 2009 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio. Prissy's whiskers Say hello to Prissy. Years ago after my mother's cat died I went to the shelter. A very small, scared little calico kitten caught my eye. I adopted her and took her to my parents. They lived at the edge of a small town and didn't much like having pets inside. I thought this little cat would not last long outdoors due to roaming dogs, coyotes, and cars along the road. However, her time was up at the shelter, so each day that she lived with them was one more than she would have had otherwise. Until my mother could no longer get around she cared for and loved Prissy. Finally Prissy could come inside sometimes and stretch out beside her on the bed. After she passed away, my dad took over, and was so lonely that he even started letting "Miss Priss" stay inside the house where she would attack his feet in bed at night. My dad left us 3 years ago at 98 years old. Prissy is still going strong, and (can you believe this) she will be nineteen in October!! She was basking in a sunny window and turned around for this backlit shot when I spoke to her. Here's to Prissy. YOU GO, GIRL!
