The Sound of MusicPosted by B. Thomas (Arlington, Texas, United States) on 6 July 2009 in Architecture and Portfolio. In the 1960s, the movie The Sound of Music was filmed in and around Salzburg. The movie was based on the true story of Maria von Trapp, a Salzburg-based nun who took up with an aristocratic family and fled German occupation. Although the film is not particularly popular among Austrians, the town draws many visitors who wish to visit the filming locations.

We never saw this palace but we do still have photos of us (4 girls in our 20s at the time) jumping two footed up and down the steps in a park just like they do in do-reh-me..and running round the statue in the same park! Thanks for the memories! 6 Jul 2009 7:45pm @MrsAmber: Glad you like it. This was a good ways out of town as were several other of the movie locations. The tour really was a lot of fun and so much better than we thought it would be. I'd do it again for sure!! |
