During a rare snowfall in North Texas last week, with bitter cold temperatures, there was not much to do except keep the bird feeders filled and take photos through the windows.

@Julie Brown: Julie, how can you tell this is a female? I thought maybe they were like cardinals, with the male having the brighter colors, but I have no idea and haven't looked them up. They do not usually come to my feeders, and move the the back of the tree if I step outside.
