Shaman Sculpture outside the Worrell Gallery located just off the plaza in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Bill Worrell is a mythic artist and poet who divides his time between studios in Texas and New Mexico. His work is inspired by ancient pictograph and pottery designs of the Freemont, Anasazi, Mongollon, Mimbres, and Lower Pecos River Indian cultures, as well as by his own spiritual connection to the land of the American southwest. "I can't pretend to know what these ancient images really mean," he says. "I don't know that anyone can. Please, give me more mysteries in life and fewer answers and I'll be very happy."
Worrell studied at Texas Tech University and the University of North Texas, and taught at various colleges and universities for eighteen years; his work can now be found in galleries, museums, and collections all around the world.
