Football, Anyone? Cowboys New Stadium

Posted by
B. Thomas (Arlington, Texas, United States) on 20 September 2009 in Lifestyle & Culture.

There has been a lot of hoopla about the new Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Friday NBC broadcast the Today show live from the spaceship-like venue.

Not the best shot, but I caught this view with my little point and shoot last night as we were leaving the Texas Rangers baseball game next to the new stadium. It was all lit up for special parties to celebrate the first kickoff which is today.

They may still be the "Dallas Cowboys", but the stadium is in Arlington. We should know, because we helped pay for it - want to, or not! ;-)

SCOTT F. SCHILLING from San Martin, United States

The stadium looks very contemporary, and I like the reflections on the water! Great shot!

@SCOTT F. SCHILLING: Thanks, Scott.

Lovely colours and reflections here.
I liked yesterdays frozen flight too. 2,000th of a sec is a very brief moment in time.

@grouser: Thanks, grouser, glad you liked them both.

@Elena Kotrotsou: It looks really nice from what I've seen of it.

Barbara Kile from United States

Was out there Friday night at the OTHER stadium and thought about a grab shot of the new stadium, but never got a good focal point. Nice reflection!

@Barbara Kile: That's funny - we were at the OTHER stadium one night apart. I was wishing I'd tried a shot from up high before we got outside where I took this shot.

Lambspun from Madison, Maine, United States

They said on the Today show that people are calling it one of the "Wonder's of the World" and on TV it looked like it. So cool you took a wonderful shot of it Barbara :)

@Lambspun: Ha, ha - many of us WONDER who voted for us to pay for it!! LOL It does look very nice.

@john4jack: Thanks, Jack.

Lee from Fort Frances Ontario, Canada

Looks very modern and colourful. The reflection really helps to accent this shot.

21 Sep 2009 3:26am

@Lee: Thanks, Lee. It was just a quick grab shot as we walked to our car after the baseball game, but I couldn't resist, and thought I'd post it for the big opener today.

Lesley from Lincoln, United States

I didn't realize they had a new stadium. Goes to show how little I care about football. On the other hand, I love the Ballpark at Arlington. Go Rangers! :)

@Lesley: I feel the same way, except there was such a media blitz about the new stadium, it was hard to miss.
