Not Half Dome

Posted by
B. Thomas (Arlington, Texas, United States) on 20 November 2009 in Landscape & Rural.

In Yosemite, the landscape is dominated by Half Dome. One evening we were sitting out on Glacier Point watching the sun go down on Half Dome, and waiting for the moon rise. We were all so focused on that peak, that I was surprised when I looked off at the horizon to one side and saw this pretty mountain beautifully lit.

It's not always about the big picture.

"Doubly happy, however, is the man whom lofty mountain tops are within reach, for the lights that shine there illumine all that lies below”
~ John Muir

Beautiful shot. Yosemite is on my list of "do-overs"! It's an incredible place.

@Stephanie: Thanks, Stephanie. It's on my "do-over" list also. We didn't have enough time there and I'd love to go back.

Eric Cousineau from Sherwood Park, Canada

The lighting is superb Barbara! Funny how sometimes the best shots are not necessarily the ones we have set up for. Always wise to keep ones options open! ;-)

@Eric Cousineau: Thanks. I gotta' say, I got some funny looks as everyone else was shooting Half Dome, and I turned my camera to some distant not-so-famous peak. But then I noticed a few others took a shot too!!!
