Bright Night - 2 of 6

I went outside about ten PM. There was still a light snow falling, and it was so bright it looked like daytime.

**Feb. 11 the weather forecast called for rain turning to snow mid morning. But we woke up to snow already covering the ground. It kept falling all day. We had an all-time record breaking snowfall of 12 inches - the most snow to fall here in one day ever on record!

After admiring snow photos from so many of you, we finally got some. I plan to put up a series of Texas snow photos the next few days - not Colorado this time, but my own neighborhood.

18 Feb 2010 10:20am

@Tamara: The light was reflecting off of the snow and the clouds so it was really bright.

Tire tracks in the snow in Texas!! I thought the city would be shut down!! It looks from the foot prints of the photographer that the snow is a real wet heavy snow, are the trees getting some of the brunt of this? Nice night photo Barbara.

18 Feb 2010 5:51pm

@The Big Guy: Traffic was still moving some but there were a few problem places. Oh yes, the trees were a mess. We lost some limbs, and limbs took out a lot of people's power. I have a photo of some of the damage tomorrow. That night, out walking, we could see flashes from limbs hitting the wires, and hear the crack from trees.

Kaddy from Mumbai, India

beautifully shot... very nice image!!

Sandy Weston from Madison, Maine, United States

Barbara....really impressed.....surprised there with all that snow! Great photo with just the light from the light and the snow.....

18 Feb 2010 10:21pm

@Sandy Weston: Thanks. The light reflected off of the snow and the street lights, and it almost looked like daylight.

Paul from summerside, Canada

Very nice...

@Paul: Thank you!

Steven from Chicagoland, United States

A nice view along this neighborhood cul-de-sac. The street lamp does a good job of highlighting the snow. Interesting to note that the residents make a pathway through the deepest of tire ruts in the snow. I bet not too many neighbors had owned a shovel before.

19 Feb 2010 3:43am

@Steven: Ha, so true - no one around here has a snow shovel. ;-) I thought it was so neat how bright it was with just the street light and the snow.

StarCosmosBleu from Bedford.Qc, Canada

Very nice night shot..not an easy thing to accomplish...

28 Feb 2010 1:18am

@StarCosmosBleu: The snow was so bright that this was hand held at ten PM. ;-)
