Sunshine Pelican

Posted by
B. Thomas (Arlington, Texas, United States) on 10 June 2010 in Animal & Insect.

This pelican looks golden in the sunshine. These beautiful birds should be "coated" in sunshine, not oil.

From Viewfinder:
May these waters always remain safe and good for all life. Pray for the Pelicans and for all living things and people in and around the oil-spill Gulf Coast regions.

Please check out Viewfinder's post about the BP oil spill - and pelicans - here

Wow, what beautiful late day color ... and you're right; bathe them in sunshine, not oil slick!

Bathed in light they dazzle the eye. Bathed in oil, they die. A beautifully dazzling view of pelicans as they were made by God to be.

SOUL AFLAME from The bosom of Mother Nature, United Kingdom

Thanks for your message today, Barbara, and forgive me for repoeating here the reply on my blog, but it expresses my thoiughts and emotions . You know, I've viewed so many sad and yet incredible images so beautifully captured by the good folk at Aminus3, the fine line of sadness and beauty crossed each and every time, and I believe that those images say more than words ever could. So much has already been said and written by caring folk who see through the BS and deceit, and view the devestation to Little Earth, the scars that Mother nature has and will suffer as we backtrack and mop up with the pointlessness of Kleenex at the scene of a crime.

I find it hard to write on this matter with clarity of thought as anger wells up and tears roll every time I see the oiled birds and covered surface of the sea. Non violent, I could nonetheless happily use a shotgun and endless bullets on those in power, as I have written for so many years about man, the dumbest of the apes and his destruction of this amazing planet. Current species dying daily, future generations at jeopardy, threats to the ocean and beyond.... I grieve.

I have never in my life seen a Pelikan, hard to believe but true, and I hope that they, and all of the other beautiful species at threat from man's stupidity and incompetence will survive so that one day I shall see them.

@SOUL AFLAME: Thank you, Paul, for your comments. I like that - "images say more than words ever could", because I just can't find the words to express how I feel when I see the photos of the birds, etc. covered in oil. Also - "I find it hard to write on this matter with clarity of thought as anger wells up and tears roll every time I see the oiled birds and covered surface of the sea." - me too!!!!

I knew you could put into words what I was not able to express.

I hope you someday get to see pelicans, and I hope you get to see them in the Gulf Coast area, the way it should look.

Good evening, Mrs. Thomas,
It seems that the pelican enjoys the bath in the sunshine. The water reflections are clear and brilliant in the reproduction as well as the overall color view. 5 Stars ***** Unfortunately, I can only admire pelicans in the zoo. Have a nice evening and all the best. Thanks for your nice comment. Sincerely Christel
