It's Not the Milky Way

Posted by
B. Thomas (Arlington, Texas, United States) on 6 October 2010 in People & Portrait and Portfolio.

One night in Glacier NP we decided to try to get photos of the Milky Way. It had already been a long day of hiking when we walked down to Lake McDonald and set up the tripod to wait for dark. We waited...and we waited.

We forgot how long it stays light up there in July. We were really tired and getting sleepy, so to entertain ourselves we started playing with a little pen light and time exposures.

We had another early hike planned the next day, so gave up on the stars after eleven PM, but in the meantime I got some fun shots of us playing with light.
