Dreamy Afternoon

Posted by

A dreamy summer afternoon on Mormon Row, with the Grand Teton mountains in the background.

Barbara, I like the inclusion of the fence as a compositional element. It's different as most image are shot from the fence or inside the fence line. Also it looks like you didn't have to work around other photographer's...Nicely done.

@Mike: Thanks, Mike. The other photographers were there early, but when I returned in the afternoon I had it to myself a few minutes. I know it's not the best time of day, but I liked the shadows, and the afternoon clouds. Congrats on the workshops in 2012.

The fence is a part, to many would leave out but here it's a part of what once was; nice but it looks soooooo cold!

4 Dec 2011 11:49am

@J.R.: I tried some with and without the fence, but I liked it. It is probably really cold there now, but at the time of this photo it was a perfect summer day.

Our favorite place in the entire area ... and it's a long story about how we found Mormon Row.
Let me just say this is a magnificent image of this infamous barn and I offer you five *****s.

@Judy aka L@dybug: Thanks, Judy. It's one of our favorite places too. Now I want to hear the story of how you found it.

Okay, you asked. ;D ... We were on our return drive from AK back to FL when we came through this area. Our dtr, s-i-l, and g-dtr flew into Jackson and rented an RV. In the visitor's center, Mike fell in love w/the barns on Mormon Drive and w/o his knowledge, Susan asked directions so we could 'end up there'. The drive in was awesome and then Mike saw why Susan had us follow them. Such a gorgeous valley! ♥

6 Dec 2011 1:29am

@Judy aka L@dybug: Cool story. What a nice surprise for Mike. Who wouldn't enjoy a surprise like that?! It is a gorgeous valley. In younger days we backpacked in the Tetons - Alaska Basin, Death Canyon, Paintbrush Divide, etc, and never "wasted" our time out on the valley away from the mountains. Now that we no longer backpack, we love poking around on Mormon Row.
