A Good Day Fishing

Posted by
B. Thomas (Arlington, Texas, United States) on 18 August 2012 in Sport & Recreation.

I have heard that a bad day fishing is better than a good day at work. This looks to me like a GOOD day fishing in Dream Lake, Rocky Mountain National Park.

147 - Number of lakes
51 - Lakes with trout
473 - Miles of streams
11- Species of fish

this is a beautiful lake and reminds me of one of my favorite fishing holes in Montana. I use to hike about 3 miles and then catch fish about 18 inches long. I miss those days. Anyhow, I bet the guys had fun and you took a nice picture.

It's more than just good fishing - it's good living....fresh air, mountains, nature, tranquility......

As I scroll this up and down, it somehow feels stronger and a bit more contrasty without the sky. Worth a thought?

18 Aug 2012 9:19am

@Curly: Yes, it is. The shot before and also tomorrow do not show the sky. I did this one in a vertical format, and showed the sky to give the view across the lake of the tall trees reaching up to the blue above.

I'd have to hoick one out, gut it and cook it there and then :) Wonderful evergreen backdrop. Lodge pole pine perhaps?

A beautiful spot, that's for sure, and I love seeing how the trees reach up on their 'tippy toes' to get to the light! ;D

Fishing on a perfect, idyllic lake is hard to beat. Fine action shot of these fishermen enjoying such a great setting...and get to fish!

Moving backwards through your posts, this is just so pristine, that I think: "Why disturb it with a fish hook and and line." You know? Swim slow appreciative laps perhaps. Is the water too cold?

franz from Baden, Austria

i like the format! but - is this SNOW under the trees ?!?

19 Aug 2012 8:23pm

@franz: Up near the top it may be light colored rocks, but there was some snow around in shady places. There is usually more in June, but the snowfall was so light all winter this year.
