Sharks and Rays

Posted by

One of the most exciting things we did on our January trip to French Polynesia was swimming with sharks and sting rays. Our little Panasonic underwater camera worked well capturing the black tipped reef sharks and sting rays.

Sharks, skates and rays seem somehow frightening. I think it would be a lot of fun swimming excursion run into either of them. This image is fine.

Was you afraid ?? I don't think so. Lucky you are to have seen them in natural environment.

You cannot complain about the quality of the shots, they are pretty good. Were you all dressed up in wet suits and aqualungs etc?

11 Sep 2013 8:28am

@Curly: Just swim suites, snorkel, mask and fins. The water was very nice, and we love to snorkel. We actually got to touch the sting rays, but not the sharks.

Excellent shot B:-))))
Must have been pretty scary after Steve Irwin's unfortunate encounter with the Sing ray....

@Devi: That was a freak accident. No one in French Polynesia where we were has ever been injured by sting rays.

@grouser: Not quiet that warm, but it seemed perfect to me. ;-)

Great capture of these underwater creatures!! An interesting PoV where the shark appears so sleek. Or should I say "svelte"? :-) Thankfully you weren't too close to contend with any barbs!
