Nacho & Bandi

Posted by
B. Thomas (Arlington, Texas, United States) on 16 May 2014 in Animal & Insect.

Wild gray foxes Nacho and his mate, Bandi, are watching to see if a grape will come flying their way. They have been visiting our yard for water and treats for three years. We do not try to touch them, but as long as we are quite or talk softly to them, they seem very at ease around us. Nacho will walk almost up to our feet if his grape is slow in coming.

Amazing the relationship you have created with these foxes. Many years ago I lived in Arlington, Texas, and I'm wondering where there might be wooded areas for foxes.

@Anita: Anita, yes, it is an amazing relationship we have with them, and we adore them. Our house backs up to an area with an underground pipeline through it, some small creeks, and a nearby park that has a pond. There are busy streets all around, and even a mall close by. And yet we sometimes see fox, raccoon, rabbit, skunk, coyote, armadillo, and have even seen a bobcat a couple of times. It is hard to believe we get to see these critters in a city. Except for the foxes and rabbits, their visits are usually in the evening or at night. I've lived here 40 years, and it's not the same little Arlington we once knew.

They know a good thing when they experience it and hence return each year to your yard!
Another beautiful shot!

I always get surprised with these lovely scenes. Can't imagine how I'd feel if I were to live in a place where I could share some time (and make photos ;-) ) with these amazing creatures. Wonderful image, a great instant with Nacho getting so near.

Great capture of this dynamic duo!! I never realized until now how long their tails can be. The surrounding texture of the grass really makes them stand out nicely here.
