I am so sad to learn that my Aminus3 friend, Sonja Loner, has passed away. I first "met" Sonja when she started posting on this blog in 2009, the same year I did. It didn't take long to discover what a gifted nature photographer she was, especially with birds. We were in contact by email, and in January she told me the cancer had returned. I don't think she would mind if I said that one of her greatest worries was having to leave her dear husband and seriously handicapped son. She ended the message thanking me for our friendship.
This may not be the best translation, but it's what Google Translate came up with on her page from her family:
It is so painful not to hold your hands any more, not to be able to fulfill your wishes, to hear your voice, and yet we are near, and yet it is no longer she.
To the dear memory of Mrs. Sonja Loner born Macek.
Sonja, I miss your beautiful photographs and our comments to each other. Soar with the eagles, friend. Mute swans in evening light was the last photo she posted and it is so typical of her stunningly beautiful work. Her portfolio is filled with wonderful images like this.
