Extinct In The Wild

Posted by
B. Thomas (Arlington, Texas, United States) on 5 July 2018 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

Sadly the scimitar-horned oryx, so named for its magnificent curved horns, is now thought to be extinct in the wild, hunted to the brink of extinction for its meat and hide. The stocky body is a pale color, with brown markings on the face and a reddish-brown neck and chest area. The large, spread hooves allow these antelope to walk on the sand of their dry habitat.

They are beauties. The big guy seems to have had his horns trimmed to avoid injury of the others.

I am saddened by our reckless stewardship of creation. I heard on the radio today of some rhino poachers who were killed by lions. I almost cheered, but that wouldn't be very nice nor Christian.
