Peyto Lake Hike

Posted by
B. Thomas (Arlington, Texas, United States) on 20 September 2019 in Landscape & Rural.

The guide book about Banff National Park, Canada, said that at Peyto Lake most people stop at the main viewpoint not far from the parking lot, but if you are feeling adventurous, hike up past the first view point where the trail will turn into a dirt trail in the forest. Hike for about 15-20 more minutes straight up and you will be rewarded with a stunning view of Peyto Lake.

They weren't wrong about the view, but may have been wrong about it just taking 20 minutes for us Texas flat landers to hike that steep trail at that altitude. It was SO worth it! The water really is that color, and the lake looks like a fox.
