The moose that was feeding on the bottom plants ignored us as we quietly watched. Some hikers going along the trail on the far side of the lake had a baby in a backpack carrier. The baby cried out briefly, and the sound carried across the water. The moose stopped eating, and looked in the direction of the cry for a very long time. I wondered what she was thinking. She finally relaxed and went back under for more food.
