Spirit Island Boat Cruise

The Spirit Island Boat Cruise had been named as the “Best Boat Cruise in Canada” by 8 million Reader’s Digest subscribers. (According to their web site.) With panoramic views of the jagged mountain peaks that surround the glacier-fed waters of beautiful Maligne Lake, the glass-enclosed boats take you to world-famous Spirit Island. A knowledgeable guide tells of Maligne’s history, geology, wildlife, and weather.

Part of the reason for its popularity of this only-accessible-by-boat location among camera enthusiasts is because photographer Peter Gale’s image of Spirit Island hung in Kodak’s Colorama showcase in New York City’s Grand Central Terminal in August and September of 1960. It has since also appeared on many calendars and computer desktops.
