Gaylord Texan ICE

Posted by
B. Thomas (Arlington, Texas, United States) on 22 January 2020 in Art & Design.

ICE! ™ is an interactive walk-through holiday attraction kept at a chilly 9°F where people can explore a variety of holiday scenes all made from 2 million pounds of ice at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine, Texas.

Ice! is crafted by master artisans who travel across the globe from Harbin, China. The ice arrives in approximately 36 truckloads over a 3-week period from an ice factory. There are two trucks a day for 15 days, which is about as fast as the ice factory can produce it. Large blocks of ice are delivered on pallets via refrigerated tractor-trailers and then moved into place by forklift.

This must have been a fabulous exhibit. I have seen pictures of the ice village in China and these craftsmen are so talented. A wonderful scene with the deer! I hope that you were dressed warm!
