Mule deer are found throughout Utah, where they occur in many types of habitat. They typically migrate from high mountainous areas in the summer to lower elevations in the winter to avoid deep snow. They are common residents in the Fruita area of Capitol Reef National Park.
There were some crab apples on the ground but I don't think deer eat those.
@Jypyä Pop: They are called that because of their big ears.
