Bluebonnets

It's that time of year again. The Texas bluebonnets are blooming.

Lupinus texensis, the Texas bluebonnet or Texas lupine is a species of lupine found in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and the Mexican states of Coahuila, Nuevo León, and Tamaulipas. With other related species of lupines also called bluebonnets, it is the state flower of Texas.

Beautiful flower that can create such a colorful carpet on a wide scale! Excellent DoF as well. It's been a while since I've seen the lupines here along Lake Michigan. Hopefully they have not perished.

Very beautiful. We are trying to fight wild lupine, because it covers the original plants. Don't worry, it's a very vigorous grass and on the side of the roads it will remain despite mowing.
